Formerly known as [deadline expired]

In every human, there is the
capacity to be all Jewkes.

We are building a telepathic future by combining scale, speed, and new modalities of brain imaging — and, regrettably, this name.

Live capillary tracks from a chunk of a co-founder’s brain, imaged with ultrasound and a contrast agent. Drag to explore.

human, but more

I. The mission

Human, but more.

Human minds are bigger than they seem. They can contain a million songs, the smell of the moon, and abstract symbols. Thought is circumscribed by communication, and increasing communication is existential.

field research, ongoing

There are no pretechnical forms of thought. There are, however, pretechnical forms of branding — and we have, on the record, one of them.

“We can see it. Now we need to run towards it.” — internal doc, three deadlines ago

II. Why now

Three forces converged. So did a fourth.

  1. 01

    Scaling laws

Brain decoding improves predictably with data, the same way language models did. Those who ignore scaling laws do so at their own peril.

  2. 02

    Non-invasive imaging

Functional ultrasound reaches fMRI-class resolution without surgery — no 20-year safety timeline, no holes in anyone’s head.

  3. 03

    Iteration speed

Skipping the operating room lets us run experiments in days instead of decades. We iterate at the speed of thought.

  4. 04

    The naming committee

did not convene in time. By long-standing agreement, the company therefore assumes the name of its visionary. We are live. There is no backsies clause.

III. The science (this part is real)

Millimeter-resolution brain imaging,
through the skull, without a scalpel.

~0.5 mm

Resolution through an intact skull using transcranial functional ultrasound and ultrasound localization microscopy.

🫧

Microbubble contrast agents trace individual capillaries. Yes, we have injected them into our own team. Yes, we are fine. Mostly.

MindEye

Prior work shows brain-to-image decoding scales with dataset size. We are building the dataset. It is large and growing.

fUS + AO

Functional ultrasound today; acousto-optic imaging next. Built on Butterfly hardware, pushed somewhere it was never meant to go — the head.

The distance between asking a question and receiving an answer approaches the speed at which you can access your own memories. The distance between picking a name and missing the deadline, it turns out, is even shorter.

IV. Leadership

The visionary, and the committee that abstained.

Brought in to help name the company. Did. Now lends his name, his face, and his unwavering conviction that this was, on balance, the correct outcome.
